Hello, I’m Katie — a brand photographer based near Edinburgh, and I help creative business owners bring their brand stories to life through thoughtful, elegant photos.
I recently worked with Emma, a new interior designer in Edinburgh, to create a brand shoot that reflects her layered, character-rich design style. Although she’s at the start of her business journey, Emma has spent years refining her aesthetic — curating interiors with a lived-in charm and understated elegance that feels warm, authentic, and beautifully considered.
Emma chose to work with me to visually express her style, personality, and the values behind her brand. I loved capturing her creative vision and telling her story through brand photography designed specifically for interior designers in Edinburgh.
Emma lives in the heart of Edinburgh with her family and is ideally placed to connect with clients across Scotland. Edinburgh was the location for the brand shoot as we captured one of her Edinburgh design projects and also used it for her personal brand images.
Emma has been a lifelong enthusiast of interior design, her passion for creating beautiful, timeless spaces started at an early age, driven by her love for blending old-world charm with modern living. Her approach is to create interiors that are timeless and elegant. Furthermore they tell a story and reflect her client’s unique style while also meeting their needs.
However her current website wasn’t showcasing this or connecting with her ideal clients, she knew she had to make some changes, so got in touch with me. She was ready to invest in new brand photography. It was time to colloborate and work closely with a brand photographer that will align with her vision aswell as convey her style and personality.
We had a discovery call to get to know each other and check we were the right fit. I talked Emma through the different shoot services available and which would be most suited to her requirements as an interior designer.
After selecting The Designer Story (which is a shoot that combines interior photography and personal brand photography) we got deeper into the planning details.
I love getting to know a brand and creating a brand mood board. A mood board that reflected Emma’s brand back to her and gave her reassurance that we were both coming from the same place. It showed I understood her brand and the visual look and feel we would create in the brand imagery.
We planned out which rooms were going to be photographed and the personal brand stories that would really help connect with her clients. This level of planning means the shoot flows and there are no big surprises on the day whilst also allowing for creativity and spontaneneous ideas. We work through shot ideas, prop list and outfit suggestions. I always provide a checklist so my clients can refer back to to make sure they are fully prepared. I even add in small things like ‘get a good nights sleep’ and to ‘practise posing in the mirror.’
The project was located in the centre of Edinburgh on a beautiful warm sunny day at the end of April. This meant the rooms were filled with a beautiful light, although one of the rooms is north facing rooms and had a blue tinge this did not hinder the outcome of the final shots.
A real highlight was getting to see Emma’s interior design skills in action. From watching her work on mood boards and chatting with a client to the finished projects, I could see Emma’s personality and style really come through.
We also caught Emma indulging in one of her hobbies of floristry. I love the images we captured of her arranging some flowers in her kitchen. These types of images are so relatable as well as revealing more about who Emma is.
By having the shoot well planned and creating a relaxed supportive space during the shoot meant Emma could feel comfortable in front of the camera.
We also leaned into some creativity and created some striking shots using movement, as a brand photgrapher I love capturing these moments as these are the images that capture your essence. In addition to some beautiful headshots and Emma styling a room. This brand shoot has given Emma a diverse collection of images that showcase her design work as well as telling her own brand story. She has images that show her personality and will resonate with her ideal clients.
If you’re considering booking a brand photographer but feeling unsure about what’s involved, here are a few more things I want you to know.
Choosing the right brand photographer is a big decision. You want someone who takes the time to truly understand your brand. Someone who listens, cares, and sees the beauty in what you do. You’re looking for a creative partner who can guide you with thoughtfulness, bring a sense of calm, and create a collaborative space where you feel supported and inspired.
I’d love to meet you for a coffee, hear your story, and learn about your vision. From there, we’ll shape the tone, mood and style of your brand shoot together. My approach is intentional, creative, and rooted in storytelling.
I’ll craft a detailed shoot plan, considering everything from locations and props to outfits and the shot list. You’re welcome to send me outfit options ahead of time, and I’ll happily offer guidance on what works best on camera. I also bring extra props and backdrops to help set the scene and visually enrich your story.
The end result? A beautiful, versatile collection of brand images. That also includes thoughtful details, behind-the-scenes process shots, action-oriented moments, and elegant portraits. Together, they’ll reflect your unique personality, your values, and the feeling behind your brand.

“Working with Katie was an absolute joy. She photographed an interiors shoot for me, along with some brand photography, and I couldn’t be happier with the results. She has such a great eye for detail and knew exactly how to capture the space and my brand in a way that felt authentic and beautiful. Katie made the whole process feel easy and relaxed, and her calm, friendly approach put me completely at ease. The final images are stunning – professional, polished, and full of personality. I wouldn’t hesitate to work with her again and highly recommend her to anyone looking for thoughtful, high-quality photography.”
A brand shoot is more than just a collection of images, it’s a chance to reflect and gain clarity on your brand. It helps define who you serve, what you offer, and how you solve problems, so your new visuals align with your message and resonate with your audience.
With a collection of high-quality images, your marketing becomes simpler. You’ll have a consistent visual presence across your website, social media, and other marketing materials. A collection that reflects your professionalism, creativity and purpose. That builds trust and reliabilty so your clients don’t just connect they engage and convert.
You’ll also be ready for any opportunity. No more scrambling for a decent photo, you’ll have strong, on-brand images that show the real you and connect confidently with new audiences.
And perhaps most importantly, it boosts your confidence. Just like preparing for a climb, having the right tools sets you up for success. When your visuals reflect who you are and where you’re going, you move towards your vision and goals for your business.
