Alongside brand and interior photography, I’ve collaborated with Birlinn Publishing to photograph three books — Kith and Feast by Sarah Rankin and Scottish Baking by Sue Lawrence.
These projects were different from each other and had different requirements and ways of working. The focus was not on individual images but rather to create a cohesive body of work that would showcase the creativity, craft and talent the author brought to each recipe.

Get In Touch
I booked Katie to shoot two of my interior design projects recently, and I am so glad I did. The whole process from start to finish was so easy. Katie takes the time to get clarity on what you want and need from a session with her, so I felt really reassured going into the shoot that she understood what I was looking for. She has an incredible eye and I couldn't be happier with the way she captured my work. And as a bonus...she is just the loveliest person to spend a day with! I can't wait to work with her again on future projects

kith by sarah rankin
Kith was Sarah Rankin’s first book, created in collaboration with Birlinn Publishing. The focus was on seasonality, local produce, and the people behind the food.
The photography extended beyond studio-based food images and involved spending time with suppliers, foragers, and producers, from local markets to apiaries. This meant working across a wide range of environments and subjects, capturing not just finished dishes but the wider story behind them.
The result was a cohesive body of work that reflected the rhythm of the seasons and the connection between food, place, and process.

scottish baking - sue lawrence
Scottish Baking was a collaborative project with the author, publisher, and food stylist, with a clear brief to create imagery that felt contemporary, simple, and striking.
The challenge was to photograph a collection of traditional bakes — often similar in colour and tone — in a way that felt fresh and visually engaging, while remaining true to the recipes themselves.
Careful attention was given to light, texture, and composition, resulting in a consistent and modern visual language across the book.
